The Greater South East Tourism initiative was created with a cluster of partnerships beginning with Enterprise South East and Enterprise Kent working with 13 municipalities, two regional tourism associations and over 250 tourism operators.
The Tourism Industry has been identified as a major sector in the South East region. For this reason, many efforts have been undertaken in order to move this sector forward. With the many campgrounds, beaches, restaurants and attractions, it was deemed imperative that regions, associations, tourism operators and stakeholders work together as one region.
In 2009, the Greater South East Tourism Strategy was developed with an implementation plan that has branded the region as the NB Cultural Coast. The structure of the NB Cultural Coast has created a work plan from the 39 recommendations set forward in the newly develop Greater Southeast Tourism Strategy, which primarily focuses on Marketing, Tourism Training and Product Development.
Marketing: Ad placement in New Brunswick’s Visitor’s Guide, NB Cultural Coast locator map identifying all of the regional tourism products and the development of a Web Portal linking all stakeholders to visitors.
Tourism Training: Partnership sessions, linking operators to products in order to meet the visitor’s expectations, Food & Beverage service training for restaurants and also training sessions on understanding Social Media for tourism operators to maximize their marketing visibility.
Product Development: To deliver experiential tourism product development workshops that showcase Regional Experiential Tourism Products to potential experience providers and teach them how to set the stage for these experiences and also how to create packages, pricing and identify markets, and also to develop an Artisan Route showcasing regional artisans.
